Caldwell, Garner Blank Pioneers in Doubleheader Sweep
WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (4/21/26) – Emberlin Caldwell and Morgan Garner combined for two complete game shutouts to lead the Williams Baptist University softball team to a sweep over Crowley's Ridge on Tuesday at the WBU Softball Field.
GAME ONE - Williams 6, Crowley's Ridge 0
Emberlin Caldwell (W, 19-4) matched her season high in strikeouts with 11 in a complete game shutout while Breann Thresher (3-3, 2B, 2 RBI) led the way on offense for the Lady Eagles.
The game was tied at 0-0 through the first five innings with neither team able to push a runner past first base safely.
Kaylee Wolfe led off the game with a single, but was stranded there to end the inning.
The Lady Eagles did not find a run until Wolfe brought home Ally Caudle with an RBI single in the fifth. One batter later, Madyson Busselle added on with a two-run double to extend the lead to 3-0.
Williams got three more runs in the frame on an RBI single from Addison Foster and a two-run double from Thresher to go ahead 6-0.
Caldwell continued to shut down the Pioneers from there for the final six outs to take her league-leading 19th win of the season.
GAME TWO - Williams 5, Crowley's Ridge 0
Addison Foster (2-3, HR, 3 RBI) and Taylor Youngblood (2-3, HR, RBI) led the way on offense for game two for Williams.
Morgan Garner (W, 16-7) fanned seven in a complete game shutout to secure the sweep for Williams.
The Lady Eagles struck for the game's first run on an RBI single from Madyson Busselle in the bottom of the third.
In the fifth, WBU added on when Addison Foster smashed a three-run homer to left center to extend the lead to 4-0. Her league-leading 13th home run puts her just one away from tying the WBU single-season record.
Taylor Youngblood led off the sixth inning with a solo shot to add another insurance run and extend the advantage to 5-0.
Garner allowed just five hits with seven strikeouts to secure the sweep for WBU. It was the Lady Eagles' tenth consecutive win over the Pioneers and 15th straight win at home.
Next, the Lady Eagles will face Cottey on Thursday, April 23. First pitch of game one is set for 1 p.m. from the WBU Softball Field on the campus of Williams Baptist University.
