WBU Splits With Rhodes in Monday Twinbill

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (4/13/26) – The Williams Baptist University softball team split a doubleheader on the road with Rhodes College on Monday afternoon.

GAME ONE - Williams 7, Rhodes 3

Addison Foster (2-3, 2 RBI) and Taylor Youngblood (2-3, 2 RBI, HR) cleared the way on offense for WBU in game one.

After a scoreless first two innings, WBU got on the board first on a two-run single from Addison Foster.  In the fourth, Williams added two more runs when Ally Caudle scored on a groundout, and Kaelyn Gooch scored on a passed ball to go ahead 4-0.

Rhodes struck back in the bottom of the fourth inning with a two-run homer to cut the lead in half.

Emberlin Caldwell (W, 16-4) kept the Lynx off the board in the late innings, with zeroes on the board in the fifth and sixth.  Taylor Youngblood backed her up with a three-run shot in the seventh to extend the Williams lead to 7-2.

Rhodes got a run in the bottom of the seventh, but could not spark a rally to give WBU the win in the opener.

GAME TWO - Rhodes 8, Williams 4

Kaylee Wolfe (2-3, 2B) and Kaelyn Gooch (1-3, RBI, HR) led the way at the plate for Williams in game two.

The Lady Eagles struck for the game's first run when Kaylee Wolfe scored on an error in the top of the first.  WBU added two more runs in the third on RBI singles from Ashlyn Michael and Breann Thresher to extend the lead to 3-0.

Rhodes got on the board with a run in the bottom of the third, then tied the game with a pair of runs in the fourth.  After holding Williams scoreless in the top of the fifth, the Lynx took the lead with an RBI double in the bottom of the inning, 4-3.

Rhodes added on four insurance runs in the sixth to widen the gap to five runs.  

In the seventh, Kaelyn Gooch launched a one-out solo homer to cut into the lead, but was not able to spark a rally as WBU dropped the second game of the doubleheader.

Morgan Garner (L, 13-7) was handed the loss in the circle.

The split moves WBU to 31-11 overall on the season.  WBU will continue conference play on Friday, April 17 on the road against Hannibal-LaGrange.  First pitch of the doubleheader is set for 2 p.m. from Hannibal, Mo.
