WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (4/10/26) – The Williams Baptist University softball team swept Harris-Stowe behind two shutout run-rule victories at the WBU Softball Field on Friday afternoon.
GAME ONE - Williams 18, Harris-Stowe 0
Madyson Busselle (3-4, 4 RBI, 2B), Ashlyn Michael (3-2, 3 RBI, 2B), and Kaelyn Gooch (3-4, 2 RBI, 2B) led WBU at the plate in game one.
After a shutdown at the top of the first, the Lady Eagles struck first on an RBI triple from Brooke Scott, followed by an RBI single from Busselle. WBU ended the first ahead 4-0.
Williams added two in the second, and two more in the third to take an 8-0 lead.
In the home half of the fourth, WBU hung 10 runs on the board behind RBI singles from Gooch, Busselle, Michael, Breann Thresher, and Ava O'Gorek.
Emberlin Caldwell (W, 14-4) struck out seven and scattered three hits across 5.0 shutout innings in the circle.
GAME TWO - Williams 14, Harris-Stowe 0
Madyson Busselle (2-4, 3 RBI, 2B, HR) and Ashlyn Michael (3-3, 2 RBI, 3 2B) led the way for Williams in the second game.
WBU opened game two with another four-run first inning, capitalizing on some defensive miscues from HSSU.
Busselle and Michael each put up RBI doubles in the second to extend the lead to 8-0, then Busselle smashed a two-run homer to left field in the third inning to push the lead to 10-0.
WBU added four more runs in the bottom of the fourth as insurance to take the 14-0 win.
Morgan Garner (W, 12-6) earned the win behind 5.0 shutout innings with just four hits allowed.
The sweep moves WBU to 28-10 overall and 7-1 in AMC play. Next, the Lady Eagles will play host to UHSP on Saturday, April 11, for Senior Day. First pitch of game one is set for noon, with Senior Day festivities to follow the conclusion of game two.
