Lady Eagles Roll Mission in Saturday Sweep

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (3/28/26) – The Williams Baptist University softball team rolled through a doubleheader to sweep Mission on Saturday at Cooper Sports Complex.

Ashlyn Michael led the way in the doubleheader, going 5-for-8 with three doubles and three RBI.  Madyson Busselle went 4-for-8 with two doubles and four RBI, and 2-for-6 with a homer and three RBI.

GAME ONE - Williams 8, Mission 0

After a scoreless first two innings, Madyson Busselle got the Lady Eagles on the board with a two-run double, then scored on an error to make it 3-0 Eagles.  Breann Thresher brought home Addison Foster on an RBI single, then Ashlyn Michael scored to cap off a five-run inning in the third.

WBU added another run in the fifth on an RBI double from Michael, and two more in the seventh on a two-run homer from Taylor Youngblood to go ahead 8-0.

Emberlin Caldwell (W, 10-4) shut down the Patriots in the circle with six hits scattered across 7.0 scoreless innings with seven strikeouts.

GAME TWO - Williams 9, Mission 1

Mission scored the first run of the second game with an RBI single in the bottom of the second inning.

In the top of the third, the Lady Eagles responded with a six spot behind RBI's from Busselle, Foster, Mariah Loya, and Kaylee Wolfe.

WBU added on three more in the fourth with a two-run double from Ashlyn Michael and a sacrifice fly from Taylor Youngblood to go up 9-1.

After the run in the second, Morgan Garner (W, 9-5) held the Patriots off the board to secure the run-rule victory in five innings.

The wins move WBU to 21-9 overall and 5-1 in AMC play.  The Lady Eagles will return to the diamond on Tuesday, March 31 on the road against Christian Brothers.  First pitch of game one is set for 1 p.m. from Memphis, Tenn.
