Lady Eagles Split Day Two of Gulf Shores Invitational

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (3/7/26) – The Williams Baptist University baseball team swept a doubleheader against Hannibal-LaGrange on Shell Field for its ninth-consecutive victory and started 3-0 in American Midwest Conference play.

GAME ONE - Abraham Baldwin 7, Williams 6

The Lady Eagles rallied in the late innings but fell to Abraham Baldwin in the first game of the day.

Ashlyn Michael (2-4, RBI, 2 R, HR) and Addison Foster (3-3) led the way at the plate for WBU.

The Fillies got on the board first with a two-run first, but Ashlyn Michael cut the lead in half in the bottom of the first with a solo home run.

ABAC added another run in the third.  Breann Thresher made it a one-run game again in the bottom of the fourth with an RBI single to plate Kyrah Banister.

Runs in the fifth and sixth extended the Fillies' lead to 5-3, but the Lady Eagles stayed close when Ali Pierce brought home a run on an RBI double in the bottom of the sixth.

ABAC added two more runs in the top of the seventh to go ahead 7-3 late.

Williams rallied in the bottom of the seventh when Madyson Busselle scored on a fielder's choice to make it 7-4.  Later in the frame, IveyJo Perkins cut the lead to 7-6 with a two-out two-run single, but the rally stopped there.  

GAME TWO - Williams 9, Point 0

The Lady Eagles kicked off the game with three runs in the top of the first.  Chelsea Attkisson came home on a fielder's choice for the first run of the game.  Addison Foster followed up with an RBI double, and Breann Thresher smacked another RBI double to put WBU ahead 3-0.

Williams added another run in the third and two more in the fifth, all scoring on defensive miscues from Point.

In the sixth, Attkisson singled to bring home two more runs, then came around to score on a groundout to put the Eagles ahead 9-0.  

Emberlin Caldwell (W, 7-3) tossed six shutout innings in the circle to lead WBU to the run-rule victory.

The split moves Williams to 14-8 overall on the season.  The Lady Eagles return to the diamond on Tuesday, March 17 on the road against Lane.  First pitch of game one against the Dragons is set for 2 p.m. from Jackson, Tenn.
