GULF SHORES, Ala. (3/6/26) – The Williams Baptist University softball team split its first two games of the Gulf Shores Invitational hosted by Mobile on Friday.
GAME ONE - Williams 3, A&M Victoria 2 (8 Innings)
A&M–Victoria struck first in the bottom of the first with a sacrifice fly to go up 1-0.
Addison Foster answered with a solo home run in the top of the fourth to tie the game 1-1
The Lady Eagles moved in front for the first time in the contest after Brooke Scott scored on an error to give WBU a 2-1 lead in the top of the sixth.
Down to their final strike, the Jaguars tied it in the bottom of the seventh inning with an RBI single to send the game to extra innings.
Williams manufactured the go-ahead run in the top of the eighth when Brooke Scott scored on a sacrifice fly from Breann Thresher to put the Lady Eagles ahead 3-2 late.
A&M-Victoria had an opportunity to tie the game in the bottom of the frame, but WBU cut down the tying run at third to stay in front. Morgan Garner struck out the final batter to secure the win.
Garner (W, 6-4) struck out four in 8.0 innings to lead the Lady Eagles in the circle. Garner stranded nine Jaguar runners on the bases in the game.
GAME TWO - Faulkner 10, Williams 2
Faulkner struck for the game's first run in the top of the third on an RBI single, then added four more runs in the fourth to take an early 5-0 lead.
WBU's only two runs in the game came in the fifth. Madyson Busselle brought home Sutton Mitchell on a triple, then scored on a sacrifice fly from IveyJo Perkins to cut the Faulkner lead to 5-2.
Despite the runs, the Lady Eagles failed to rally back as Faulkner added another run in the sixth and four more in the seventh to take the 10-2 win.
Emberlin Caldwell (L, 6-3) got the loss in the circle for the Lady Eagles. Brianna McPike threw two innings with no earned runs, and McKenna Bittle pitched the final inning with no earned runs allowed.
The split moves the Lady Eagles to 13-7 overall on the season. Next, WBU will take on Abraham Baldwin and Point on day two of the Gulf Shores Invitational. Game one against ABAC is set for 9 a.m., and game two is set to follow at 11:15 a.m. from Gulf Shores, Ala.
