WBU Picked to Finish Second in AMC Preseason Poll; Land Five on Preseason All-Conference List
WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (1/28/26) – The Williams Baptist University softball team was picked to finish second in the American Midwest Conference Softball Preseason Coaches Poll and five Lady Eagles were named to the AMC Preseason All-Conference team, the league announced on Wednesday morning.
Breann Thresher, Emberlin Caldwell, Madyson Busselle, Morgan Garner, and Kaylee Wolfe were all named to the AMC Preseason All-Conference team.
Busselle, Garner, and Caldwell were all named First Team All-Conference in 2025. Busselle swung for a .453 average with 45 runs batted in and five homers, while Garner and Caldwell both posted dominant seasons in the circle last year. Caldwell struck out 115 hitters with a 2.24 ERA in 131.1 innings, and Garner posted a 2.45 ERA in 140.0 innings with 82 punchouts.
Wolfe earned Second Team All-Conference honors last season behind a .327 AVG in 48 games alongside 14 doubles and four homers. Thresher was named to the AMC All-Conference Third Team after she hit for a .346 AVG with 34 RBI in 2025.
As a team, WBU was picked to finish second in the AMC Softball Coaches' Preseason Poll. The Lady Eagles picked up 82 points and two first place votes in the poll, finishing second behind Columbia with 85 points.
Williams went 34-14 overall and 16-6 in conference play last season to finish fourth in the regular season standings.
The Lady Eagles will begin the 2026 season at home on Saturday, Feb. 7 against Henderson State. First pitch of game one against the Reddies is set for noon from the WBU Softball Field.
