Eagles Out-Slug Toppers in Doubleheader Sweep

PARAGOULD, Ark. (2/14/25) – The Williams Baptist University softball team swept Blue Mountain Christian in a doubleheader by the final scores of 9-6 and 4-2 at the GCT Softball Field on Friday afternoon.

Madyson Busselle led the way at the plate in both games going 4-for-7 with four RBI's.  Ashlyn Michael also went 3-for-7 with three RBI's across both games.

Emberlin Caldwell threw a complete game in game one to earn the win.  She went seven innings with two earned runs and eight strikeouts.

After BMCU got on the board first on a two-run double from MJ Mitchell, WBU cut the lead to one on a single from Madyson Busselle.

Williams took the lead on a two-run double from Busselle in the fifth.  Ashlyn Michael added another run to make it 4-2.  Caldwell did not allow a baserunner in the final two innings to secure the win in game one.

Morgan Garner started in the circle in game two.  She earned the win after going 5.0 innings with four earned runs.  

The Eagles got on the board first after a two-run homer from Paige Thomas in the bottom of the second inning.  The Eagles added on two runs in the third and two in the fourth to go up 6-0.

Blue Mountain rallied in the fifth inning with a five spot.  WBU responded in the bottom half of the inning with an RBI double from Jadyn Kobrin that pushed the lead back to two.

A solo home run from Julianna Ingram in the sixth inning cut the lead back to one, but Brooke Scott and Ashlyn Michael came up with RBI singles to push the advantage back to three.

Emberlin Caldwell shut down the Toppers in the top of the seventh to earn the save.  

The wins move WBU to 4-0 overall on the season.  The Lady Eagles will be back in action on Thursday, Feb. 20 in McKenzie, Tenn. for a doubleheader against Bethel.  First pitch of game one against the Wildcats is set for noon from Lady Wildcat Park.
