NFCA Names Shoebottom Second Team NAIA All-American
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (6/6/23) – Williams Baptist softball infielder Madyson Shoebottom continues to earn national recognition after being named a National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Second Team All-American by the organization.
Shoebottom was the starting shortstop for a WBU team that won 37 games in 2024 and finished second in the American Midwest Conference.
Shoebottom earned AMC Player of the Year honors by leading the league with a .432 batting average and 70 hits on the season. The Bald Knob, Ark. native smashed 10 homers with only five strikeouts in 2024.
Shoebottom also set the bar defensively, leading American Midwest Conference shortstops with a .963 fielding percentage and earning a Gold Glove Award in the six-hole.
This is the second national award given to the WBU shortstop this season, as Shoebottom was also named to the NAIA's All-American Third Team.
"We are so happy for Madyson and her accolades she keeps receiving this year!" Said WBU Head Coach Jessica Nutt. "Her dedication on the field does not go unnoticed, and we are happy she is an Eagle!"
