Lady Eagles Split Saturday's Games in Gulf Shores

GULF SHORES, Ala. - The Williams softball team fell to the Morningside Mustangs 17-6 in the first game on Saturday and defeated Blue Mountain 6-2 in the second one. The Lady Eagles are now 5-9 on the season.

Game One

Williams fell to Morningside 17-6 in five innings in their first game of the day. The Lady Eagles score all six of their runs in the third inning. Kaydra Cole got it started with a RBI groundout. Naomi Crowley reached on an error that allowed a run to score. Anna Besand and Macy Carter hit back-to-back RBI doubles. Maddi Altenthal reached on an error that allowed a run to score, as did Kennedie Laymance.

Angel Gillette got the start and pitched 2.1 innings, giving up 11 runs off nine hits, walked three and struck out three. Sara Pruitt pitched 2.2 innings of relief and gave up six runs off seven hits and struck out two. 

Game Two

The Lady Eagles got the scoring started early with three runs in the first. They scored two runs in the fifth and one in the sixth. Kennedy Johnson led the team with 3 RBIs, while Madison Stokes, Alyssa Cordell, and Bianca Pettus all collected one RBI. 

Cassidi Doyle pitched a complete game and gave up two runs off seven hits and struck out five.

Williams makes a pit stop in Tuscaloosa on their way home for a doubleheader against Stillman College on Tuesday. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
