Lady Eagles Split With Eutectics

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Lady Eagles softball team split their Saturday doubleheader the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy, winning game one 6-0 and dropping game two 6-4.

Game One

The Lady Eagles got the scoring going early with one run in the first inning off Alyssa Cordell (SO/Bentonville, Ark.)'s RBI single to left. In the third inning, Cordell scored on Kaydra Cole (JR/Paragould, Ark.)'s RBI sac bunt. In the fifth inning, Cordell and Maggie Crossno (SR/Senath, Mo.) scored on Chasity Gandy (SR/Greenbrier, Ark.)'s 2 RBI infield single. Finally, in the sixth inning, Megan Weis (FR/Republic, Mo.) scored on Cordell's RBI double and Cordell scored after an error by the center fielder on Crossno's single.

Tess Temple (SR/Heber Springs, Ark.) pitched a complete game and gave up six hits and struck out ten.

Game Two

The Lady Eagles plated three in the third inning to take an early lead. Crossno hit an RBI single and Cole hit a 2 RBI single to score those runs. The Eutectics plated six in the fourth to take a 6-3 lead. The Lady Eagles tried to rally in the sixth, but all they got was one run off a Kennedy Johnson (FR/Forney, Texas) homerun over the centerfield wall.

Cassidi Doyle (JR/Josephine, Texas) pitched 3.1 innings and gave up five runs off seven hits, walked one, and struck out one. Jillian Hunter (SO/Covington, Tenn.) pitched 2.2 innings and gave up one run off two hits.
