Saavedra Takes First at Viking Open

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (11/11/25) – Williams Baptist University wrestling freshman Caiden Saavedra notched his first event win as an Eagle after going 4-0 in the 149 bracket at the Viking Open hosted by Carl Albert State on Saturday.

Saavedra began the day with two decision wins and a medical forfeit to advance to the final match.  In the championship bout, the Jonesboro, Ark. native defeated Ouachita Baptist's Caleb Andrews via a 13-7 decision for first place in the 149 weight class.

Landon Holmes also tallied three wins in the 141 bracket to round out the squad in the event.

Next, WBU will host Ouachita Baptist for its first dual of the regular season.  The match is set to begin at 6 p.m. inside the Southerland-Mabee Center.
