Green, Clark Capture Individual Titles at AMC Outdoor Championships
Williams Baptist University senior track and field athlete Mya Green captured the 100 meter and 200 meter dash titles, while sophomore Kaylee Clark won the women's high jump at the AMC Track and Field Championships May 4-5 hosted by Missouri Baptist University.
Green, a native of Forrest City, Ark., captured the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.96 and the 200 meter dash with a race of 26.40. Green was also named the league's Newcomer of the Year.
Clark bested the competition in the high jump with a mark of 1.64m (5-4.50), while teammate Carson Defries was second with a height of 1.56m (5-1.25).
As a team, the Lady Eagles finished third overall with a score of 120.50. Williams Woods won the team competition with a score of 215.50, while Columbia was second at 132.50.
On the men's side, Williams finished fourth with 64 points. Columbia won the event with a total of 189 points, followed closely by Missouri Baptist (187) and Williams Woods (169).
In the women's discus throw Hannah Baker placed fourth with a throw of 36.07m (118-4), while Calista Christian was seventh with a throw of 29.79m (97-9). Baker and Christian also placed in the shot put with Baker also capturing a fourth place finish with a throw of 11.72m (38-5.50), while Christian finished 10th after hurling the implement 9.00m (29-6.50).
Baker also turned in a third place finish in the women's hammer throw with a toss of 43.28m (142-0), while Christian was sixth in the event with a throw of 39.36m (129-2).
On the men's side, Carson Tucker finished third in the shot put with a hurl of 14.28m (46-10.25) and added a sixth-place finish in the discus after a toss of 38.33m (125-9). He also finished fourth in the men's throw with a throw of 46.29m (151-11). Jacob Short placed seventh in the shot put with a throw of 13.19m (43-3.25).
WBU had four placed in the top-10 in the men's high jump. Zechariah Ray finished second with a height of 1.88m (6-2.00). Will Martin (5th), Isaiah Thompson (6th) and Byron Lewis (8th) all cleared 1.73m (5-8.00). Ray also placed eighth in the triple with a lead of 12.39m (40-7.75).
Mikey Larson finished in the women's 1500 meter with a time of 5:09.52, while Caleb Anderson (4:47.93) was 10th on the men's side. Larson also placed fifth in the 800 meter after turning in a time of 2:30.51.
Larson was also named to the AMC Champions of Character team after the meet.
Dani Barstead finished sixth in the women's 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 15:00.71. Kyia Weisbrod was seventh in the 5000-meter run with a time of 20:20.37. Weisbrod also finished sixth in the 10000-meter run with a time of 43:26.17.
Madison Mittag finished fifth in the 400 meter dash after a run of 1:02.89, while Hope Cram (1:04.28) was ninth. Mittag also placed fifth in the javelin throw with a toss of 33.27m (109-2). In the men's 400 meter dash, Nick Powell turned in a sixth place finish with a time of 52.99.
Powell was also named to the AMC Champions of Character Team after the meet.
Ralph Iweriebor was fifth in the 200 meter dash with a scamper of 23.97, while Lamont Evan placed eighth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:04.78. In the women's 100-meter hurdles Defries was seventh with a time of 17.41.
Allyson Marlow was sixth in the triple jump with a leap of 10.52m (34-6.25), while Will Martin also finished on the men's side with a jump of 12.46m (40-10.50).
Williams placed three in the top-10 in the women's pole vault. Marlow was second with a vault of 2.70m (8-10.25), while Clark was second with a height of 2.55m (8-4.25). Barstead finished seventh with a height of 2.25m (7-4.50).
In the men's pole vault, Karlis Smith finished third a vault of 3.35m (10-11.75).
In the relay races, the women's 4x100 meter team finished third with a time of 51.13. Team members include Mya Green, Hope Cram, Miracle Holmes and Madison Mittag. The men's team finished fourth with a time of 45.08 with a squad of Jason Detrick, Nick Powell, Byron Lewis and Ralph Iweriebor.
The women's 4x400 meter relay team finished fourth with a time of 4:23.18. Team members were Mittag, Allyson Marlow, Cram and Mikey Larson. The men's team also finished fourth with a time of 3:40.22 with a squad consisting of Iweriebor, Lewis, Lamont Evans and Powell.
The women's 4x800 meter relay team (Larson, Clark, Cram and Barstead) was fifth with a team of 11:08.58, while the men's team (Caleb Anderson, Karlis Smith, Gage Blankenship and Gunner Shell) was also fifth with a time of 9:38.37.
