WBU Picks Up Road Win at Blue Mountain

The Williams Baptist University men's soccer team defeated Blue Mountain College 5-1 on Saturday. 

With the victory, the Eagles improved their record to 3-2, while Blue Mountain fell to 2-3 on the year. 

Alfonso Madrigal got the scoring started for the Eagles with a goal in the 22nd minute of the match, assisted by Jacob Doehman. A few minutes later, Fernando Paya would find the back of the net in the 38th minute with an assist from Joao Baretto

After halftime, Joao Costa would help Jacobo Obradors score the Eagles' third goal of the match. In the 65th minute, Jacobo Obradors would score his second goal of the afternoon, assisted by Kyreon Daws. 

The Eagles would add another goal late in the match from Arthur Ferreira in the 80th minute, as Kyreon Daws notched his second assist of the game. 

Blue Mountain would get on the board in the 82nd minute with a goal from Daniel Perez. 

Rodrigo Pina played 83 minutes at goalkeeper for the Eagles, securing two saves in three tries. Jorge Gisbert played the final six minutes in goal for WBU. 

WBU will be back in action at home on Tuesday, Sept. 12 against Bethel University. 

WBU is a private, Christian university in Walnut Ridge.
