ALEXANDRIA, La. (9/2/23) – The Williams Baptist University men's soccer team picked up a key 1-0 road victory against LSU-Alexandria on Saturday afternoon.
With the win the Eagles are now 2-1-0 on the season, while the Generals fell to 1-2-0.
The win was highlighted by a 90th minute yellow card that awarded LSU-Alexandria a penalty kick. With the win on the line, Rodrigo Pina made his second penalty kick save of the week to put the game on ice in favor of WBU.
Alfonso Madrigal's fifth minute unassisted goal would be the only score of the game for either side. The Eagles put up five total shots in the match, all of which were on target.
Pina improved his record to 2-1 on the year, playing all 90 minutes and notching five saves in his first clean sheet of the season.
The WBU soccer team will pick back up on Monday in Pineville, La., to take on Louisiana Christian at 1:30 PM.
