Eagles Comeback Bid Falls Short in Loss to Missouri Baptist

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (1/11/25) – The Williams Baptist University men's basketball team fought hard but ultimately fell 94-77 to Missouri Baptist on Saturday afternoon inside the Southerland-Mabee Center.

Amarion Wilson led the team in scoring with 25 points on 10-for-19 shooting from the field, including a 5-for-9 mark from three-point range.  Cooper Rabjohn knocked down 6-of-12 from deep en route to a 20-point performance, and Jadyn Ramsey went a perfect 5-for-5 from downtown for a career-high 17 points.  Ramsey also led the team on the boards with six rebounds on the day.

As a team, WBU went 28-for-56 (50.0 percent) from the field.  The squad tied for the fifth most three-pointers in a game with 16 triples in 33 attempts.  Williams lost the rebound battle 47-25, and conceded 34 second chance points to the Spartans.

Williams held close with MBU through the first 10 minutes of the contest, but a 9-3 Spartan run forced a Williams timeout down 26-17.  The Eagles clawed back after the timeout as a Wilson triple cut the MBU lead to four with three minutes left.  Despite the pressure, the Spartans ended the first half with a 5-0 run to go into the locker room up 44-35.

WBU stormed back after halftime with a 10-3 run capped off by a Trahe Qualls layup to cut the lead to two, but the Williams would fail to come any closer as the Spartans fended off the comeback attempt to take the win.

The loss drops Williams to 4-8 on the year and 1-5 in AMC play.  Next, the Eagles will take on Northeast Arkansas rival Crowley's Ridge on Tuesday, Jan. 14.  Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. inside the Southerland-Mabee Center.
