Butters' Double-Double Helps Eagles Take Down Trojans 78-64
HANNIBAL, Mo. - The Williams Baptist Eagles had no trouble taking down the Hannibal-LaGrange Trojans, whom they defeated 78-64, on Saturday afternoon to move to 4-4; 2-0 in conference play.
The Eagles went on a 12-0 scoring run to start the game and continued their high-intensity play for the rest of the first half, and went in to halftime up by 19.
The Trojans made some runs in the second half, and even outscored the Eagles 41-36, but couldn't make up for their slow start to the game. The Eagles played defense and made shots when they needed to, to keep the game from ever being close.
Williams Baptist shot 48% from the field and 83% from the free-throw line.
Shackeel Butters (SR/Freeport, Bahamas) led the Eagles with his third double-double of the year with 20 points and 10 rebounds.
Cortez King (SR/Chicago, Ill.) was also in double figures with 17 points, as was EJ Anderson (FR/Little Rock, Ark.) with 13 points off the bench.
Nash Davis (JR/Paragould, Ark.) had four assists on the day.
