WBU Baseball Rewrites Record Book in 2026

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (6/3/26)  – The Williams Baptist baseball team set 25 different school records across individual and team performances during its historic 2026 season.

The Eagles tied for the most wins in program history at 31 and finished the season with its first appearance in the American Midwest Conference Tournament title game.

"This was a special season for our program and I am incredibly proud of everything this team accomplished," said WBU head coach Stephen Abanathy.  "The records we set this season are a testament to the hard work and commitment the guys put in all year long.  This team established a new standard for WBU baseball, and we are excited to keep building on that success moving forward."

Eight new individual single game records were set:

  • Skylar Morrison - 5 Hits vs Harris-Stowe (April 3)

  • Gavin Mink - 5 Hits vs Harris-Stowe (April 3), 5 Runs vs Harris-Stowe (April 3)

  • Cade Parks - 5 Runs vs Arkansas Baptist (Feb. 27), 2 Home Runs vs Arkansas Baptist (Feb. 27)

  • Parker Cook - 2 Home Runs vs Maranatha Baptist (March 25)

  • Bodey Ellis - 2 Home Runs vs Arkansas Baptist (Feb. 26)

  • Gabe Dirnberger - Perfect Game vs Arkansas Baptist (Feb. 27)

Four single game team records were set:

  • 7 Doubles vs Harris-Stowe (April 3)

  • 7 Home Runs vs Philander Smith (March 10)

  • 16 Stolen Bases vs Maranatha Baptist (March 25)

  • 0 Hits Allowed vs Arkansas Baptist (Feb. 27)

Finally, the Eagles set nine new team records:

  • 31 Wins

  • .620 Win%

  • .650 Conference Win%

  • 404 Runs

  • 246 Walks

  • 132 Stolen Bases

  • .317 AVG

  • .471 SLG

  • .430 OBP

Head coach Stephen Abanathy crossed the 200 career win mark and finished the season with 209 victories as head Eagle.
