Cloud Leads Eagles to Split With Mustangs

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (4/17/25) – A strong performance on the mound from Dawson Cloud in game two powered WBU to a doubleheader split with Central Baptist on Thursday afternoon at Shell Field by the final scores of 6-1 and 2-0.

Cloud (1-0) went 6.1 shutout innings with seven strikeouts and five hits allowed in his first career win as an Eagle.  Parker Jeffries came on in relief for the final two outs of the game after CBC put the tying run on first base.

WBU threatened to score in the bottom of the second after Cody Jones singled to load the bases with one out.  Mustangs pitcher Hunter Belton worked out of the jam to keep the game tied at zero.

WBU finally broke through in the fifth with a two-run homer off the bat of Lawson Aaron in the bottom of the fifth that put Williams up 2-0.  WBU shut down CBC to take the 2-0 shutout win.

Aaron (2-3, RBI) led the way for the Eagles offense in game one after driving in the game's first run in the bottom of the first to put WBU up 1-0.

The Eagles led 1-0 until CBC finally broke through with four runs in the fifth, and added two more in the sixth to go ahead 6-1.  The Eagles failed to rally and dropped the first game of the series.

WBU moves to 22-21 overall on the season and 13-17 in AMC play.  The Eagles will close out the series with the Mustangs on Friday, Apr. 18 for Senior Day at Shell Field.  First pitch of game one is set for noon, with Senior Day festivities scheduled between games of the doubleheader.
