Eagles Drop Rubber Match to (8) MBU 14-8
WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. - The Williams baseball team dropped their rubber match with (8) MBU on Saturday by a score of 14-8. With the loss, the Eagles are now 19-23 overall and 6-9 in conference play.
Both teams came out swinging, as the Spartans plated five in the first inning. The Eagles responded with seven runs of their own, all with two outs. Tate Issacs got it started with a three-run homerun, then Parker Jeffries and Dylan Creech hit RBI singles, and finally Jarron Brantley hit a 2 RBI single. The Spartans made it a 7-6 game with a run in the fourth and then an 8-7 game with two runs in the fifth. Brantley tied it up at 8 in the sixth inning for the Eagles with a solo homerun. Unfortunately for Williams, the wheels kinda fell off in the seventh inning as the Spartans plated four runs. They extended their lead with two more in the eighth to make it 14-8.
Noah Willingham got the start and pitched 4.1 innings. He allowed eight runs off eight hits, walked six and struck out three. Cash Forrester pitched 2.1 innings of relief and allowed four runs off eight hits and struck out two. Jolby Jones pitched 1.0 inning of relief and allowed two runs off one hit. Cole Doke pitched 1.1 innings of relief and allowed one hit, walked one and struck out three.

The Eagles continue AMC play on April 21-22 as they welcome Hannibal-LaGrange to Shell Field. They will play a single game on Friday and a doubleheader on Saturday.
