Eagles Drop Rubber Match to CBC
WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. - The Williams baseball team dropped their Saturday rubber match to the Central Baptist College Mustangs 10-3. With the loss, the Eagles drop to 13-14 overall and 1-2 in AMC play.
The Mustangs opened up the scoring with three runs in the first inning, but the Eagles responded with two of their own in the home half as Nicholas Jones hit a 2-run shot over the left field wall. CBC made it a 4-2 game with a run in the third inning. The Eagles got the run back in the fifth inning when Luis Febres hit a RBI single to left field. Unfortunately for Williams, that would be all the offense they would get in the game. CBC added to their lead with three runs in the seventh and three runs in the ninth.
Cole Doke got the start on the mound and pitched 3.0 innings. He allowed four runs off four hits, walked five and struck out four. Parker Jeffries pitched 5.1 innings of relief and allowed six runs off eight hits, walked one and struck out one. Eric Tolar pitched 2/3 of an inning in relief.
