Eagles Out of AMC Tournament on Day Two

Central Baptist
O'FALLON, Mo. - The Williams baseball team lost their two games on day two of the AMC Tournament, ending their run in O'Fallon. They started off the day with an 11-3 loss to Columbia, then they lost to Central Baptist 10-5 in the losers bracket.
Game One
The Eagles took on Columbia in the winners bracket to start the day. The Eagles scored a run in the first when Nick Allred hit a RBI single to take an early 1-0 lead. The Cougars responded with three runs in the home half of the inning. It stayed that way until the sixth inning when Columbia extended their lead to 6-1. The Eagles cut into the lead in the eighth inning with two runs after Palmer Campbell reached on an error that allowed Cameron McCoy to score and then Blake Simmons reached on a RBI fielder's choice. The Cougars plated five in the bottom of the eighth to furthur extend their lead.
Brady Sterns pitched 7.2 innings and gave up 11 runs off 13 hits and struck out one. Alex O'Brien pitched 0.1 of an inning in relief.
Game Two
Williams had to immediately turn around after their loss to Columbia and get ready to play Central Baptist. The Mustangs jumped out to a quick lead by scoring three runs in the first and two runs in the second. The Eagles got a run back in the top of the third when Isaac Williams hit a RBI single to center. Central Baptist continued their offensive attack in the third inning when they plated two and in the fourth inning when they plated two more to take a 9-1 lead over the Eagles. The Eagles scored two runs in the seventh when Sam Philley hit a RBI double and then came around to score on a wild pitch. The Mustangs added one more in the eighth to take a 10-3 lead. The Eagles tried to make a run in the ninth and scored two runs when Nick Allred and Campbell hit back-to-back RBI doubles, but that was all they could get.
Cash Forrester got the start and pitched 1.2 innings. He gave up five runs off five hits and walked one. Blaine Wood pitched 2.1 innings of relief and gave up four runs off two hits, walked three and struck out two. O'Brien pitched 1.0 inning of relief and gave up one hit, walked two and struck out one. Eric Tolar pitched 3.0 innings of relief and gave up one run off four hits, walked two and struck out one.
The Eagles end the season with a 26-30 overall record and a 6-15 conference record.
