Eagles Split With Champion Christian

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. - The Williams baseball team split its doubleheader on Tuesday with the Champion Christian College Tigers. The Tigers walked off game one for a 5-4 victory, while the Eagles rebounded and won game two 8-1. The Eagles are now 16-13 overall.

Game One

The Eagles took a 1-0 lead in the third when Nicholas Jones hit a RBI single. The Tigers would tie the game in the fourth inning. Williams would score two runs in the sixth when Nick Allred hit a RBI sac fly and Noah Everett scored on a passed ball. The Tigers would get one run back in the bottom of the sixth to make it a one-run game. Allred would give the Eagles a two-run lead back in the seventh when he hit a RBI single. The Tigers would score three runs in the bottom of the seventh to get the win. 

Cole Manning got the start on the mound and pitched 4.0 innings. He gave up one run off two hits, walked one and struck out three. Parker Jeffries pitched 1.0 inning of relief and gave up one run off one hit. Alex O'Brien pitched 1.0 inning of relief. Eric Tolar pitched 0.2 inning of relief and gave up three runs off one hit, walked three and struck out one. Tolar was credited with the loss. 

Game Two

Williams took a lead in the second inning off a RBI single from Palmer Campbell and a 2 RBI single from Isaac Williams. They added to the lead in the third when Wyatt LeDure hit a RBI double, Jake Hutson hit a RBI single, and Jarron Brantley hit a 2 RBI double. Hutson added a RBI single in the fifth to round out the scoring for the Eagles. 

Cash Forrester got the start on the mound and pitched 4.0 innings. He gave up two hits, walked one and struck out four. Blaine Wood pitched 1.0 inning of relief and gave up one run off one hit and struck out three. Jimmy Watson pitched 1.0 inning of relief and walked one. Austin Tate pitched 1.0 inning of relief and walked one. Forrester got credit for the win.

The Eagles return to AMC play this weekend as they travel to St. Louis, Mo. for a three-game series against Missouri Baptist on Friday and Saturday.
