Eagles Take Down Harding
SEARCY, Ark. - The Williams baseball team defeated DII Harding University on Tuesday night, 12-9. With the win the Eagles are now 13-8 on the season.
The Eagles got things going in the first inning with a RBI groundout to Sam Philley. They added on to their lead with two runs in the third inning with an RBI single from Nick Allred and Nicholas Jones came home to score after a balk was called on the Bisons' pitcher. Harding responded in the third inning with six runs to take a three-run lead. Williams quickly tied the game back up in the fourth inning when Palmer Campbell reached on an error that allowed Garrison Keene to come home and Jones hit a RBI double.
They retook the lead in the sixth inning when Wyatt LeDure hit a solo homerun over the right field wall and Isaac Williams later scored on a wild pitch. The Bisons scored two runs in the sixth to tie the game up at eight. Isaac Williams gave the Eagles a two-run lead again when he hit a 2 RBI single in the seventh. Harding would score one run in the eighth to make it a 10-9 ballgame, but the Eagles would further extend their lead in the ninth when Dezmond Cordova hit a 2 RBI single to give the Eagles a 12-9 win.
Cash Forrester got the start on the mound and pitched 2.1 innings, giving up six runs off five hits and walked two. Alex O'Brien pitched 1.1 innings of relief and gave up two hits and walked two. Parker Jeffries pitched 2.1 innings of relief and gave up two runs off one hit, walked one and struck out three. Jimmy Watson pitched 1.0 inning of relief and gave up one run off three hits. Eric Tolar pitched 2.0 innings of relief and gave up two hits, walked one and struck out three. Jeffries got credited with the win, while Tolar got credit for the save.

The Eagles start AMC play this weekend as they travel to St. Louis for a three-game series against Harris-Stowe. They will play a doubleheader on Thursday and a single on Friday.
