WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. - The Williams baseball team defeated the Baptist Bible College Patriots in a twin bill on Friday. The Eagles won game one 15-4 and game two 10-5. With the wins the Eagles are now 2-5 on the season.
Game One
The Eagles offense got hot early as they plated seven runs in the first inning. They added two in the second, one in the third and fourth, and four in the fifth. Nicholas Jones led the team with 5 RBIs in the game, while Blake Simmons had three. Tyler Guffey had 2 RBIs and Nick Allred, Wyatt LeDure, and Carter Privett had one RBI each.
Spencer Burnham got the nod and pitched 5.0 innings. He gave up one run off four hits, walked two and struck out eight. Jimmy Watson pitched 2.0 innings in relief and gave up three runs off three hits and walked one. Burnham collected the win.
Game Two
Again, the Eagles got the offense going early as they plated two runs in the first inning. The Patriots responded with two runs in the second to tie the game. Williams put up a four-spot in the home half of the third to retake the lead. The Patriots cut into the lead with two runs in the fifth, but the Eagles got the two runs back in the bottom half of the frame. They then extended the lead by two more runs in the sixth. Baptist Bible was able to score one run in the top of the seventh, but that was all.
Again, Nicholas Jones led the team with 4 RBIs after hitting a three-run bomb and a RBI single. Blake Simmons also homored in the game when he hit a two-run shot over the left-field wall in the fifth. Simmons finished with three RBIs. Allred, Noah Everett, and Palmer Campbell all had one RBI in the game.
Brady Sterns got the start on the mound and pitched 4.0 innings. He gave up two runs off one hit, walked four and struck out nine. Cole Manning pitched 2.0 innings of relief and gave up two runs off two hits, walked one and struck out three. Eric Tolar pitched 1.0 inning of relief and gave up one run off one hit and walked one. Sterns got credit for the win.

The Eagles return to Shell Field on Saturday for another doubleheader with Baptist Bible. First pitch is scheduled noon.
