Eagles Split Doubleheader With Lyon

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. - The Williams Baptist baseball team split the doubleheader with Lyon College on Saturday, dropping game one 3-0 and winning game two 14-10 in 12 innings.

Game One
The first game was a low scoring affair with Lyon scoring all their runs in the first inning and neither team being able to string together anything else the rest of the game.
LaDerrious Perry (JR/Little Rock, Ark.), Will Biggs (JR/Campbell, Mo.), Trent Pobst (SR/Scott City, MO), and Palmer Campbell (SO/New Madrid, MO) all collected hits in the game.
Brennan White (SR/Fredericktown, MO) pitched a complete game for the Eagles and gave up three runs off four hits, walked two and struck out seven.

Game Two
The Eagles won the second game 14-10 in 12 innings. Williams opened up the scoring with one run in the first as Perry scored of Pobst's RBI groundout. They added two runs in the fourth off Campbell's single to right field and two runs in the fifth after Perry homered and Nick Allred (SO/Portageville, Mo.) hit a RBI sac fly. The Scots would plate four in the home half of the fifth to cut into the Eagles lead and one in the sixth to tie the game. The Eagles would retake the lead with one run in the seventh after Campbell received a bases-loaded walk. They would add three more runs in the eighth inning: Coltin Weldon (FR/Mountain View, MO) scored off a wild pitch, Pobst hit a RBI single, and Allred scored off a wild pitch. The Scots again would come back and tie the game with one run in the eighth and three runs in the bottom of the ninth.

In the tenth inning, the Eagles plated one to retake the lead off Allred's RBI single, but the Scots again would tie the game in the home half of the inning.

In the twelfth inning, the Eagles would explode for four runs: Pobst would score after Brody Ninemire (SR/Viola, AR) reached base via an error by the third baseman, Dezmond Cordova (FR/Little Rock, Ark.) hit an RBI single, and Ninemire and Cordova would score after Brady Smith (SO/Cave City, Ark.) reached base via an error by the third baseman.
Perry went 4-7 with one RBI, Pobst went 3-7 with 2 RBI, Allred went 1-5 with 2 RBI, and Campbell went 1-3 with 3 RBI.
Brady Sterns (FR/Paragould, AR) got the start on the mound and pitched 4.0 innings and gave up four runs off seven hits, walked three and struck out two. Chase Hutson (JR/Paragould, Ark.) pitched 0.1 inning of relief, walked two and struck out one. Blake Simmons (FR/Charleston, MO) pitched 4.2 innings of relief and gave up five runs off eight hits and walked one. Jimmy Watson (FR/White House, Tenn.) pitched 0.1 inning of relief and gave up one run off three hits. Heath Taylor (JR/Wynne, Ark.) pitched 2.2 innings of relief and gave up one hit, walked two, and struck out four to get the win.
