Eagles Drop Friday Doubleheader at Lyon

BATESVILLE, Ark. - The Williams Baptist baseball team dropped the doubleheader against the Lyon Scots on Friday, losing game one 8-1 and game two 10-6.

Game One
The Eagles lost game one 8-1. They had the same number of hits as the Scots, but weren't able to put them together to score runs. The lone Eagles run came in the first inning when LaDerrious Perry (JR/Little Rock, Ark.) scored off Brody Ninemire (SR/Viola, AR)'s sac fly to right.
Perry went 2-4 and Nick Allred (SO/Portageville, Mo.) went 2-3 to lead the Eagles.
Kender Carroll (SO/Bentonville, AR) started on the mound for the Eagles and pitched 4.0 innings. He gave up eight runs off six hits, walked two and struck out one. Jimmy Watson (FR/White House, Tenn.) pitched 2.0 innings in relief and walked one and struck out one.

Game Two
The Eagles didn't fare much better in game two as they lost 10-6. They plated two in the first off Ninemire's 2RBI single, and the Scots plated one. The Eagles plated two more in the second off Allred's 2 RBI single. The Scots would plated three in the third to tie the game, and the one in the fifth to take the lead. The Eagles would tie it in sixth off Jacob Brown (SR/Pinson, AL)'s RBI sac fly and then take the lead in the seventh when Trent Pobst (SR/Scott City, MO) scored after a wild pitch. The Scots however would plate five in the home half of the seventh to take the lead.

Hunter Taylor (SO/Wynne, Ark.) got the start on the mound for the Eagles and pitched 3.0 innings. He gave up four runs off six hits, walked one and struck out two. Garrison Keene (JR/New Madrid, Mo.) pitched 1.1 innings of relief and gave up one run off five hits. Alex O'Brien (FR/Marion, Ark.) pitched 1.2 innings of relief and gave up three runs off three hits and struck out two. Heath Taylor (JR/Wynne, Ark.) pitched 1.0 innings of relief and gave up two runs off two hits, walked two and struck out one. Jimmy Watson pitched 1.0 innings of relief.

The Eagles will face Lyon in a doubleheader on Saturday to finish up their four-game slate. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
